MicW is a subsidiary of BWSA Technology Ltd based in Beijing, China. BWSA began producing test and calibration microphones in 1998. The company has received ISO9001 certification, and manufactures under the most stringent clean room conditions. Based on experienced gathered in this market, the company then designed a series of recording microphones under the MicW brand. While some MicW models are directly derived from calibration microphones, others have been developed from the ground up. All MicW products are manufactured to the highest quality standards, including exhaustive quality assurance testing on each and every microphone.
What sets MicW microphones apart?
The intricacies of the capsule’s design is a closely guarded secret. The exceedingly high quality grade of these microphones is based on expertise gathered over 20 years in producing calibration microphones.
Only a few microns thick, the membrane is manufactured in a clean room environment. The microphone design requires an air-tight bond between the membrane and its frame. All microphone capsules are then placed in an acclimatized storage space for “pre-ageing” to prevent any change in sonic characteristics over time.
Three different materials are used to offer a variety of sound characteristics:
- Titanium (T series)
- Nickel (N series)
- Gold-sputtered polymer foil (E series)
