The Matrix Audio X-SPDIF3 USB audio interface enables high-quality transmission of digital audio signals from computers, tablets, or smartphones to digital peripheral devices. It operates in asynchronous USB mode and converts USB input signals to optical, coaxial, AES, or IIS-LVDS outputs.
Compared to the previous model, the IIS-LVDS output is now galvanically isolated, completely isolating the digital output from the ground line of the USB connection. Noise interference, which is often caused by the USB front end, is now a thing of the past.
The X-SPDIF3 supports PCM signals up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD signals up to DSD512 (1-bit), ensuring excellent audio quality when used with PCs and mobile devices alike.
Noise Filter
The X-SPDIF3 converts digital audio data via a USB connection into S/PDIF or IIS-LVDS signals, making it a versatile problem solver for digital interfaces. If your computer, smartphone, or tablet does not offer a coaxial or optical output interface, the X-SPDIF3 enables smooth conversion, allowing high-quality digital audio signals to be passed on to external D/A converters (DACs).
During conversion, the audio signal is not only transmitted but also optimized at the same time: interference and signal contamination typically originating from the source device are effectively isolated. The result is a clean, precise digital signal that noticeably improves the audio quality on downstream devices.
FemtoClock
Two high-precision femtosecond clock generators from Accusilicon serve as reference sources for the X-SPDIF3 and ensure exceptionally accurate reproduction of musical details. The integrated FPGA operates flexibly at 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz and their multiples and automatically performs the appropriate clock division and switching – without any user intervention.
The FPGA is powered by an independent, ultra-low-noise low dropout regulator (LDO) that ensures a clean and stable power supply. The result: interference-free signal processing and an unadulterated musical experience with the highest sound purity.
IIS-LVDS
A switch on the bottom allows the X-SPDIF3 to be flexibly set to four different IIS-LVDS interface definitions. This allows the device to be easily adapted to different D/A converters or digital receivers. This versatility makes the X-SPDIF3 a universal solution for a wide range of applications in high-quality digital audio.
Dual clock mode
The switches on the bottom of the device also allow the X-SPDIF3 to be configured to two different clock output modes. This allows the clock to be optimally adapted to the requirements of different backend devices. Operation is simple: flip the switch – and audiophile music enjoyment in the highest quality is guaranteed.
Freely convert audio codes
The X-SPDIF3 has an integrated DoP conversion function that converts DSD-over-PCM (DoP) signals into true native DSD and outputs them directly via the IIS-LVDS output. This allows the device to perform uncomplicated DSD code conversion and at the same time offers an ideal solution for D/A converters that only support native DSD signals.
