The Audeze Story

The origins of Audeze date back to 2008, when founders Sankar Thiagasamudram and Alexander Rosson met engineer Pete Uka, who was developing special flexible circuit materials for NASA. They quickly realised that the material could be perfect for headphones. That's when Dragoslav Colich, who has 30 years of experience in developing planar drivers, joined the team as CTO to develop the LCD-1 headphones.

Subsequently, the legendary award-winning LCD-2 and LCD-3 headphones were developed, as well as the more powerful LCD-X and XC models. More recently, Audeze has brought planar magnetic technology to a wider audience with the EL-8, SINE and iSINE series headphones. Audeze worked with its strategic partner Designworks, a subsidiary of the BMW Group, for the innovative industrial design of the new headphones.

Audeze has proprietary planar magnetic designs with extremely thin-layer driver materials and high-performance custom magnets. These lightweight diaphragms are more responsive than heavy moving coil or dome drivers, for example. Planar magnetic diaphragms also have voice coil circuitry distributed over the diaphragm area. The voice coil circuitry of the diaphragm interacts with the magnetic field to create an electromagnetic force that moves the diaphragm back and forth and produces the sound you hear when you are excited by an audio signal.

Craftsmanship paired with industrial design

Audeze products are designed with the latest innovations in materials science and technology, coupled with precise craftsmanship in Costa Mesa.

Strategic partner Designworks, a subsidiary of BMW Group, provided the industrial design for the EL-8 series, the SINE on-ear headphones and the Deckard DAC/AMP/PREAMP. Audeze combines these innovative designs with their own advanced technologies to create headphones that set new standards not only in sound but also in design.
